Picture
They need your help. You've done it before.
The K12Counts program employs two types of Coaches:
Certified Coaches are:
  • Parents whose child graduated from the School District served
  • University graduates (accredited 4-year college)
  • Able to provide at least 5 hours per week
  • Certified in the K12Counts SixSkills methodology

Assistant Coaches are:
  • Parents or have a recognized Educational or Language qualification
  • College graduates (2- or 4-year school)
  • Trained in the K12Counts SixSkills methodology

We Augment the School
K12Counts Programs operate on a School District basis and under their approval.

Coaches are required to be Certified in the Curriculum their students are following and typically have advanced subject-matter qualifications in the disciplines being followed by their higher-grade students.

Program staff coordinate Liaison between the Program and the District and academic staff, to the level desired by each Teacher, so that they can trust in the supportive nature of the program without being unduly burdened with additional coordination activities.

How Foundations Work With Us
We can employ a combination of public- and private-funding, typically leveraging private funding sources for highly targeted and "catalytic" purposes to provide improved agility for Program creation or to better connect funders with measurable, high-impact projects and activities.

Examples of private-funding strategies include:
  • funding Coach employment for specific subjects or demographics
  • supporting a particular student cohort over a period of their academic career
  • enabling technology-led skills improvement

The Role of Government
Multiple Federal and State funding programs target K-12 educational development, typically directed at Schools themselves (rather than Students), which we are able to use to support training and certification of Coaches and School District liaison.

As K12Counts provides employment opportunity, we are able to leverage governmental job-creation programs which typically operate independently of educrional initiaives.

We rely on private funding to equip students with the technology or broadband required for them to participate in our programs.

Help Those Who Want to Help Themselves  - 3 Hrs / Month
Outreach to busy parents, especially single-parents, non-English speakers or those working multiple jobs, is especially important as they may be unable to attend school events or have not have experienced our school system and subject content. They want to help their children but have limited opportunity to do so;  we show them how to make the most of what they can do and keep them engaged with what we're doing.

We hold voluntary Parent Nights periodically to update parents on key program milestones and to share and transfer our SixSkills methodology. Parent Nights are conducted in language-specific sessions and often not at night! They never include discussion about particular students.

If you could volunteer an hour or two a month to help organize and perform these critical get-togethers you will be helping those that want to help themselves. Foreign language skills are always a plus.
